i got a 1 litre, and have had so many problems with it. spent about a grand now on repairs and its still f**ked. i am thinkin of getting a new engine now, its most prob cheaper. BUT i thought there is no point changing it to another 1 litre cus like most 1 litre drivers they rant the hell into em so worried problems mite come back. So the answer is a new engine but i am only just 19 and i am on my parents insurance with 3rd party fire and theft. insurance is with CIS and is currently aroun £600 now includling bodykit and alloys.

FIRST - i want to know if anyone has changed their 1 litre engines to a 1.2 or a 1.4 and what EXACTLY would need to be done to the other parts other than the engines (i.e. brakes)?

SECOND - a garage has quoted me £250 to fit a 1litre back in the car in about 2 days. i guess a 1.2 will be a lil more, say aroun £350 cus of all the extras which need changing. how much are 1.2 or 1.4 engines? and does anyone have any for sale (in good nick)? and how much has it costed for other people?

THIRD - How much does the insurance go up? its it quite a steep jump?

all these choices...

decisions decisions decisions...

Look in to changing the car, it can work out cheaper and you're also insuring (and when the time comes, selling) a more 'normal' car.

I'd put in a 1.4 or up as the 1.2 is identical design to 1.0 just 4 cylinders instead of 3, but all the parts that go wrong are common to both like idle control motor, air mass meter, egr valve. If you do change up you'll miss the fact you've got a timing chain though as you'll have to do cambelt changes on the bigger engines.

Thats Vauxhall's official name for the engine x16xe is the 1.6 etc.

If you are just swapping for another standard Corsa engine would it not be easier to just sell the car and buy a 1.4/1.6?

i've decided - a 1.4 is too much hassle and i'm selling car next year, will cost too much to put a 1.4 in. just wanna 1.2 engine now. anyone done a conversion from 1.0 to 1.2?
