Just reading up on these, and early ones fitted to the GSi's suffered from slightly under-sized pistons 
Could this explain the oil consumption problems I'm having at the moment? It's always seemed to go through a fair amount, but not really smoke!
If so, what size should I get fitted & also would a rebore to ~1650 be worth it to get a better fit with some slightly larger pistons??

There's a list of the affected engine numbers in the feature TV did a while back. I think you'd know by now if you had issues on the undersized front.

C16xe had undersize pistons not X16

from what I read, C16XE was unaffected, was only early X16XE engines which had this issue

I'm sure it was the early X engines as the 1.4's were affected aswell
I'm afraid I can't get my hands on the copy easily. I'll have a dig ina few weeks when I go home next.
