hi, when i put the clutch onto the biting point i get a hissing sound even if its stationary and not in gear. Any ideas what it could be?

thrust bearing... dont worry about it.. once ur clutch stops workin then worry.

Mine does this, but its getting a little worse 
Its crunching again when going into some gears & can't adjust the clutch any more

If it's only just started, you've got a few thousand miles left yet.
It'll get louder and louder, to give you an idea of when you'll need to worry.

so it will need a new clutch or bearing? ive only just fitted the engine so I dont know how long its been doing it?

What engine/gearbox?
On my 1.6 it was easier to just replace the whole clutch as it was a few hours labour to take it out.

c14se not sure on the box, its in a sri, is it f13 or f14?

has done it on mine for 3yrs
is the clutch release bearing, i just live with it

gearbox type is pot luck mate, it originally had an f15 on it
