I have the 6600gt.
The video decoding bits of the 6800's don't work.
Video still plays obv but its not done on the card.
The 6600gt will play any game thats out atm but will struggle a bit at higher res with AA etc turned on.
Depends on the budget as ever.

im still using my Sapphire Ultimate 9800Pro and it still runs all the games on a highish spec

Gainward 256MB GeForce 6800GT (400/1100) here...
Runs Half Life 2, with full detail, including 4xAA & 8xAF, in 1600x1200 screen-res, at 60-100 fps...
3dMark05 score of a fraction under 5,000, 3dMark03 score of about 18,000...

Thats just rubbish though isn't it.
The 6600 equivalent ATI cards are crap.
ATI were ahead for a while but then fell behind.
They also made a microsoft/internet style error by saying there was no market for nvidias SLI, which was wrong.
