In our house there are 4 computers which share one internet connection via a router. I would like to add a 5th computer which will also share the connection but I would also like it to share files with one of the other computers without any of the other 3 being able to see.... Is it possible to have the two computers linked together and also sharing the net connection but staying seperate from the other three which are connected to the router?

There must be something in the settings that allows you to choose who view what.

If it's a wired network, I would buy a cheap switch (smallist is 5 ports unfortunatly), then connect that to the router (one of the ports) and run two pcs of that.
Then create a user account on the system you want to access, username/password etc. Under My Computer > Tools > View, de-select "use simple file sharing" (should be at the bottom).

Once you've done that, right-mouse click the folder you want to share, click "sharing and security"....enable sharing, click permissions, remove the "everyone" account, add yours (the computer that is sharing) and the newly created account (one the remote user will use).

Now only the computer user and a remote user who knows the username/password can access that folder/directory.

Btw, this is off the top of my head...so don't hold me to any of this. And the sharing system under windows is crap and usually throws wobbles
