If there something that I can buy and that will just slot striaght in to shorten my gear ratio for accleration rather then top speed? I'm getting a inlet manifold in march and want to get quick accelaration rather then top end. I've got a 1.6 sport by the way.

It's a big job. You need to get the gearbox off, and then strip it down to replace the internals.

I wouldn't bother.

It'd be a couple of hundred quid.

Do you use the car on long journeys?

depends on how far you wanna go with it all

look on the side of your gear cluster by the lip and it should say something like CR3712 or WR3915 wtc

CR means close ratio cluster
WR means wide ratio cluster
3712 and 3915 etc mean your final drive 3.7:1 ratio and 3.9:1 ratio.

i have a 4.1:1 in mine and still hit 110 with a bit to go. go to a 4.8:1 and you wont see more than 85mph on the limiter in 5th.

like i said, how far do you wanna go
