My car keeps getting really hot, when driving. It goes up to 100 and just above when i just drive about normally. As soon as i pull over it cools down.  And the fan isn't cutting in ever.
I've just changed the thermostat and fan switch this morning to try and cure it but its still doing it.
Im thinking maybe the connector on the fan isn't working? Any other ideas?

Im hoping its not the water pump. 
I bypassed the fan switch earlier to see if the fan was actually working, and it comes on with the ignition. So its not that thats broken. I thought that with the fan on constantly it would keep the temp down, but no such luck.

Could be a sensor? Or an airlock. Any bubbles in the water?

Someone has said something to me about an airlock. TBH im ot sure how to check for an airlock
ooooh, just remembered.. I drove the car round the block a couple of times to warm it, Then took the cap off the water bottle, and there wasn't any pressure there. Usually when you take it off when the watres hot it all pishes and bubbles right up doesn't it?
Im going to but a new CTS tomorow, just to see if it does anything.

Bleed the coolant system and get some new coolant pumping round it. I don't know where the bleeding points on the corsas coolant system are but youll need to take them off in turn and get a constant stream of coolant coming out. Dont take them all off at the same time though.

1. get engine up to about 95 degrees
2. remove cap from expansion tank
3. put blowers on hot on setting 2
4. run on fast idle (2000rpm) until coolant bubbles over from expansion tank
5. let it bubble over for 5-10 seconds
6. turn off engine and blowers
7. leave to cool down completely
8. top up expansion tank
that will get any airlocks out.

while its running fast idle before it bubbles over, try squeezing the 2 big coolant hoses either side of the rad as well, sometimes helps.

Just been out and done what you said Dave. Was bubbling everywhere! 
I left it to cool down, filled it up like you said, then tried it. Fan cut in at 101 degrees which worried me a bit. And when i drive along it sits at 95 degrees. What do they normally run at? Im sure in my old Corsa XE the fan came on at around 97 degrees?
Also when i take the cap off the water bottle, there's no pressure build up. There should be shouldn't there?

cutting in at 101 is fine, pressurised system is fine up to 115 degrees. standard corsa fan switch is 98 degrees and the dial on the dash isnt exactly accurate.
running at 95 degrees, stat opens at 92 so it sounds all good

Cheers mate. I get really worried with engine temps, had problems with the cooling systems on all the vauxhalls i've had 
What would you say about there being no pressure build up when i take the cap off the expansion tank? should be some pressure shouldn't there?

should be a bit as its a pressurised system. try fitting a new cap as they have a pressure valve built in, that could be faulty and pressures not building up. got a spare one if you want it to try?

Best one if the bottom right hand side of the rad. Undo the temp sensor and take it out, coolant will piss out then. Also sticking a garden hose in the top of the expansion tank and blasting water in will help it drain clean of crud in the pipes

but that would piss coolant out everywhere and not solve the problem of an airlock, more likely to cause an airlock as air will enter the rad as you try and put the temp sender back in with hot coolant scalding the skin off your hands
