Dell were ahead until very recently.
Dell have 60% (iirc) of the US server market.
They are the number one at just about everything they do atm.

In Europe, as said, Dell are 3rd behind HP and Acer but in the US I think they are number 1 although they have issued several profit warnings recently due to QA issues (ie that battery thingy)

i wasnt impressed with the components used and upgrade options on my bros dell... so i went for a mesh. never heard a bad thing about mesh

They don't care if you can upgrade it or about the quality of components.
Its cheaper to fix stuff that breaks than put in better ones to start off with.
There is also very little margin in pc's, services is where the money's at.

I'd never buy anything to do with IBM.

IBM are't even close to dell or hp anymore.
IBM's also use things like tiny hd's that cost a fortune to replce.

You've taken out the monitor, XP, keyboard and mouse and speakers...
Would cost me about £310 in parts

yea i think £550 with his labour included is a very fair deal. You couldnt get a better spec for less pre built.
