Have been talking to my dad about engine mods, such as lightened flywheels changing the final drive etc etc,
he said that when he had cars in the 70's they always used to swap the flywheels to that from smaller engined models, so what im wondering is as I have a f13cr box and c14se (1.4 8v) engine could i use the flywheel from a 1.2 8v or even 1.0 8v from a nova, or are these flywheels completly different or exactly the same to the ones i currently have?
also the best final drive to get (from another vaux) is 4.18 from the f10/13 WR boxes?

You could swap yours for a smaller fly, but would then need a smaller clutch, which would wear out more quickly.
A 4.18FD is quite rare to come across, not many boxes have them. They will improve acceleration, but make your engine sit at higher revs when on the motorway.

thats a great tutorial Dave, have been reading through that loads of times!
another question that I have about the diff,
would the diff in an F13 WR box or F10 WR box be the same as mine in the F13 CR? as it would be a bit easier for me if i didnt have to change the crown wheel, just change the complete diff? it would also make it easier for me to get the FD!

cheers mate
i'll probably have to get a diff as well as the crown wheel, because it will be a bit of a pain to remove the crown from the diff without a vice at the scrappy and without damaging the crown wheel!!
if they are the same i'll have a spare diff if anything happens to mine not that it will
