Hi ive just bought a sony 10" Pentagon subwoofer Max power 1100w Ive borrowed a 2 channel 600 watt boss amp off mi mate is this amp ok to power it or will it bee too much because he had it connected to a jbl 1000w 10" and it blew up after 3 months.
If it is ok how far should i turn the amp up.

a 600 watt BOSS amp blew a 1000 watt jbl, we all talkin peak here or what?
sounds like a case of under powering.
I aint gonna tell u what's goin on here or what to do cos i got a feelin ur gonna for what u want anyway.
just be sensible with the gain and let the sub run-in...not sure how long that'll take, it can varey.

You should buy an amp which is about 20% above the power rating of the sub, then turn down the gains. That amp is not sufficiant for the sub, you need something more powerful. That was also the problem your mate had, as he probably had the gains cranked right the hell up aswell.
