hi, need a new gfx card....9600gt's struggling a bit now
im torn between a 4870, with scope to upgrade to a pair of 4870's.
or a gtx260/280 (depending on how my funds allow)
what would you recommend?... ive always had nvidia, but my current motherboards accepts xfire so may be intresting.

Ive never really been a fan of dual graphics cards, since a few months down the line you'll get a single gfx card which will not only be cheaper but just as powerful.
The 4870 X2s offer the best bang for buck at the moment.

Single 4870.
x2's are a waste of cash unless you're doing crazy resolutions and 4xAA.
And even that is subject to the game.
Just get the single. I have a 4850, and it's epic.

the benchmarks for the 4870 and gtx260 seem roughly the same.
however the 280 is quite a bit higher.
which brands should i be looking at if i was to go ATI then?

I have a Gigabyte, which is just an ASUS card..
Either of those two are good, or Sapphire...
Edit: Just did some research... It appears XFX do ATi cards now also??
Overclockers 164.99.
