Anything that isn't safe.
Give the car a good going over before the test as even the smallest of things can make it fail.
1) Check all your bulbs work.
2) Check your fluids i.e Brake Fluid below min is a fail and screen wash.
3) Make sure your washer jets work.
4) Emissions is tested so if you don't have a cat you may fail.
5) Tyres are checked
6) Brakes are checked.
You get the idea.........
Also once underneath they'll check the bearings etc for play and chassis for corrosion etc.

Yeah as above, get a bar onto bushes, ball joints and check for excessive play.
