might sound stupid but check it's plugged in behind the head unit, if not, try a friend's cd player. Failing them two, it's probably a wire chafing; if your speakers work on the CDs.
But the radio wire is the thick grey one, it's pretty strong tbh.

if your getting bad radio reception, the most likely cause of this is the ariel plug is damaged (usually from taking a radio in/out) the most common place is very small wire in the ariel which would have broke some how.

the wire is in 2 parts come down from the aerial down the passenger side of the car up to under the glove box where it stops and plugs into another bit then a small bit of wire to the back of the head unit
