I seem to gain more and more cables in my room all the time, and its a right old mess behind the units, as there is:
TV
Sky+
Xbox
PC
Surround Sound
Land Line
All along one wall in my room, and there seems to be about a mile of it! How have people kept it reasonable?

I've taped mine together then ran them flush with the back of the unit so you can't see a single one. There is special cable tidy stuff you can buy at a price, but sellotape does it fine.

dont use sellotape, will be murder to get back off when you need to move them
use cable ties

 It so isn't. It's a damn sight easier pulling tape apart than having to go and get scissors to cut cable ties imo. Depends how overboard you go with the tape I suppose.

the selotape will dry out and go brittle with time so easy to rip off

I'll await the day then  Been good for 6 months so far tho. Admittedly I would've done more of a pro job and probably looked into other methods if I wasn't such a lazy bastard

maybe we have dodgy tape?
see it frequently people using it then i go to cut it and remove and its all sticky and hard to get off

this stuff's pretty good:
but yeah, cable ties or sellotape is fine. the tape goes dry after a while so isn't a problem to get off. only if you use duct tape.
