puma broke down thursday night after i got stuck in the snow on my road.
tried getting onto my driveway and the clutch was smoking, then finally got on the drive and as it was smoking i turned the engine off.
went to turn it back on and the ignition comes on and all lights/cd player etc lights up but won't turn over.
under the engine it is thick with ice from where the car was stuck on the snow, could it be the starter motor frozen up or is it something more serious?
cheers.

Could it be an earth fault maybe or ripped an earth off in the snow

Starter motor probably wouldn't freeze, there's not enough moisture in there to prevent it turning.
My first thoughts are coolant freeze which is pretty bad.

just got my dad to tow it and it started once moving and in 2nd gear.
it drives fine, gearbox, clutch all seem fine.
only when i turn it off it doesn't come back on again, so it must be electrical.
any ideas?

Any sound from the starter motor itself? Could be some detached wiring from there at a guess.

it doesn't even try to turn over the engine. but i get all the lights up on the dash and everything is fine until you try and start the engine and boom, nothing at all.

all the wires seem to be fine. one of the wires that was coming from the gearbox to something else was absolutely caked in ice.
really need to jack it up and have a proper look but it's dark now

nah they just sit there.
it's a brand new battery as a couple weeks ago i broke down because the battery wasn't holding a charge.
it did the 0-140-0mph thing that time.
