Hey geeks!!

I've been trying for ages now to format my ' Toshiba satellite pro L450D-12x' laptop that is running Windows 7

I cannot for the life of me format the bloody thing.

I was a numpty when I first got it as I didnt go out and buy a disc to create a recovery disc, but I didn't think this mattered.
I knew when I was getting it, that I was going to use it for a while and then I would pass it through the family when I got my new one.
This is why I thought I could restore it to ' Out of box condition' by pressing a few keys. But it hasnt helped at all.

The main reason for doing it now is that the system is running really slow... I have had a good clean up but that didnt work.

Things I have tried:

Power and 0 keys together - this doesn't do anything on my system
Power and F12 - no recovery commands in this one
Power and F2 ( I think) - and this does nothing either.

Other than calling toshiba... What can I do? Thanks in advance!!

If you want to completely reinstall

Put the CD in and restart. Press any key when it says to boot from cd

Then go through the install process

Delete the current partition and reformat it as ntfs.

Then follow the disk through, enter your install key and you have essentially a new laptop.

Its worth cleaning out the fans as well

I've used Toshiba laptops in the past which require you to press and hold the escape key (Esc) on boot to access the boot menu.
