At what point of renting a premises do you start paying business rates?
Is it £6000+ on shops / offices?

No set level really, been looking into all this too. There are discounts available though - small business relief - can get up to 50% off.

We pay about that on our shop Whittie. I am sure you pay business rates as soon as the property is yours because I remember my Dad having a massive argument with the Council in Cornwall about it. They wanted to charge him business rates as soon as he moved into a factory on an industrial estate even though he wasnt operating a business from it...... needless to say he still had to pay it
