My PC has dual ram - 4 slots in total

Can I put 3 sticks in there - all 2gb and have it work?

depends on the type of RAM and motherboard

You have to have a 64-bit computer to use over 4GB of RAM. You can use 3 sticks of RAM, but broadly speaking it's better to have it installed in even quantities.

Sorry, did someone call the pedant police, because I'll just let them know that a 64-bit operating system will only work on a 64-bit computer while they're here.
