Following in from the "Remote Access Software?" thread, I am considering paying for a subscription to LogMeIn Pro but I'm not sure about how the pricing works? [probably me being thick lol]
It's £41.95 + VAT a year for one computer - now my question is do they class each "computer" as the technician's PC or the customer's PC?
i.e. Do you have to pay for the number of computers you access, or the number of computers in your company that are being used to access customer's computers?

It's the number of computers you access. If you're wanting to beable to help customers, then you want Logmein Rescue which you can access any amount of peoples PC's. Not sure how much it is though, I think it might actually be by time connected or something..

Hmmm... bit pricey IMO (for small companies like mine anyway).
Had a look at Crossloop Pro, I *think* it offers unlimited remote access for just under $70/year.
Steve - I need something that my customers can easily install and give me remote access to their PCs, VNC isn't easy for technophobes to set up.

Can you not just use remote desktop if it's Windows systems?

Yes but there's the problem of setting up firewalls to allow access and all that bollocks.

Teamviewer normally works when other things won't.
http://www.gidsoftware.com/remotehelpdesk.htm also works fairly well.

We used LogMeIn free on most clients. Then the ones who wanted an upgraded support contract got the LogMeIn cost passed onto them.

I was about to say - Do you need the extra features in the Pro version.
For simple remote access LogMeIn free should do the job fine. I took a quick look and did not see it saying anything about consumer only.

Decided to go with CrossLoop Pro in the end. Think it was about £40ish for 12 months, and lets me access an unlimited number of computers anywhere around the world.
Definately more affordable than what LogMeIn etc. were offering.
