right im doing a timing belt on a a b18c and cant get the crank pulley off so decided to take the plastic off using a hack saw blade. now the thing im not to sure is where shall i line the crank pully up to because the mark is behind the pulley, i lined up the pistons using a couple of chopsticks but is it suppost to be set to bdc?

I don't get it, the lining up mark is still there but its behind the pulley so you can't see it

So honda designed a timing mark you can't see? You sure its a timing mark? How many cam pulleys are there assuming 2 as its a 16v, I would have thought line them up then find out which piston needs to be at TDC, if the marking is shit you may have to look down the sparkplug hole to see when the piston is at its highest.

usually that mark relates to TDC (Top Dead Centre) on cylinder #1 but not always.
remove the spark plug on #1 and put a straw down the hole untill it touches the piston, turn the engine and watch the straw go up and down, when it is at its top most you are at TDC.
bear in mind though that not all cars are timed up using TDC.

yeah thats why i asked before i put the belt back on cos im not sure if the honda is lined up using the tdc

Should have marked it all up yourself with old belt on. There are plenty of Honda forums, the info will be there if you look.
