I know I should probably know the answer to this but I've not been able to find any info that exactly answers my question here

but if you have an eBay shop and an ecommerce site, is it possible to update the website and that automatically update stock on eBay - or is it a case of having to manage the two separately?

It's apart of the eBay API, iirc function called 'reviseinventory', so it's a case of is there a plugin for your e-commerce backend.

Edit - Actually the function is called 'ReviseInventoryStatus', allows you to update price and quantity of active fixed-priced items. HERE
