been paying £13.00 a month direct debit to anglian water since i've moved in 18 months ago.
came home the other day to a bill from essex and suffolk water saying i owe £88.31 for water charges
fixed @ £35.70 per year
usage 58 @ 121.49p per cubic metre
am i paying twice for the same thing (water) or is one for drainage and one just for water?
unfortunately don't have an anglian water bill to hand so can't check, but i've had one of these bills before and just paid it, thought i better look into it now incase i'm getting ripped off.

Depending on where you live you may have a seperate bill to a different water board for Clean and Waste.

I think a lot of people, inc. me are told that meters are evil and rates are better. Ours is around £10 per month, but we don't pay sewage which is usually 90% of what use.

I pay for Waste Water and Household Water seperate. Two Direct debits to Southern Water and Portsmouth Water

Our water bill is about £30/month (no meter) at the moment, half is water and the other half is waste.
Sounds like you're not much better off being on a meter then?

i used a lot of water in the summer after patching up my lawn. isn't usually that high had the sprinkler on for an hour at a time.

got a bill through from anglian water today, saying i owe 82p
still not sure if its correct though.
figures are:
volume used - 58 cubic metres (same as the other bill).
volume used (foul and surface)
(at 90% of water used) 52.20m3x149.22p = 77.89
standing charge 184 days x 21.58p £39.71
total sewerage charge: £117.60
hope that makes sense so i take it that means i'm paying one bill to anglian water for sewerage charges and one to essex and suffolk water for general water usage?
