im getting another shot at this due to changing the web host.
so think im going to go with Microsoft 365 for £4 a month as there are only 2 of us.
where is best to buy from 123reg? or does it not matter

Domains, depends what the TLD is - for US domains (.com/.net) then usually i use namecheap.com as the exchange rate makes them about £4 quid cheaper. Otherwise 123-reg, although 1and1 at the moment appear to be a few pennies cheaper but their control panel is a pain.
You'll also probably need some form of dns provider to point the MX records to 365 if your domain registrar doesn't provide it; as previously mentioned i use Hurricane Electric (https://dns.he.net/) which is free.

(Though if you find 123reg to be the best price for what you're after, you can setup your Office 365 DNS records though them. I've got a couple of domain names from there pointing to my Google Apps account.)
