tomorrows the day and it looks like the ban applies to me (anglian water), but haven't received a letter to notify me.
what i'd like to know is can i use the hosepipe to fill buckets/watering cans to wash the car/water plants? or do they need to be filled using a tap from inside the house?
everyone i know seems to be of the assumption that a hosepipe is completely off limits and i have a few nosey neighbours around my way who will gladly rat you out, even if i'm using it legally.

Should move to EK mate, we've got absolutely loads of water up here.
I got a pressure washer at the weekend so I can maximise my usage.

You can fill buckets and watering cans from an outside tap, it's just the hosepipe that is off limits.

ah ok, so unplug hosepipe and i'm fine
what annoys me is that water companies base water usage from a hosepipe on it being on constantly. but i have a gun on the end to stop it when i don't want it coming out, so use less water than if i fill buckets up.

Same for most folk I'd have thought. I ways wonder just how much a hosepipe ban actually saves, I think it's used more to draw attention to the fact supplies are low and get people to cut back in other areas too. Watering grass probably canes quite a bit but washing a car can't be much more than running a bath. Of course they could just stop losing a quarter of their input in leaks.....
