Hi... Im after an adapter cable from the old 30pin apple connector (female) to the new 8pin apple connector (male)
...But ideally on a length of cable?.
They are available on ebay. But all of the ad's state the adapter does not allow music to stream?.
So it wont work for my dock/alarm.
Is this the same with all adapters available?

Ha... I should have probably tried the Apple store before asking here.
Hopefully some Chinese company will make these soon for less than £30.

Lightening uses USB, a Lightening to Thunderbolt cable doesn't exist.

Ah, I see. Thunderbolt is a different thing to the old 30 pin dock. I bought one of these recently as it was cheap and it actually works:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lightning-Adapter-Converter-8-Pin-30-Pin-iPhone-5-iPad-4-Mini-iPod-Nano-/330836301171?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccesories_MobilePhoneDataCables_JN&hash=item4d07615573
But that's not quite what you want, the guy also sells these though:

I dont think any cable/adaptor will work. IIRC there are pins in the dock connector (30pin) for analog audio out left and right. This is what many alarm clocks/docks/car kits use. The new connector doesnt have these pins so these devices wont work. Some of the more expensive docks/car kits work because they read the digital data from the iPod its self.

Won't the 30-pin dock to Lightening adapter from Apple work OK?

There were a load of copies on eBay which worked - I think they were taken off because they infringed some IP what with having Apple's chipset in them.
