Not sure if anyone on here will know how to do this, but thought it was worth asking:

Basically, I work in a hospital and after every patient, we have to dictate a letter onto a mini tape, which then goes to a secretary to type and send the letter. The tapes are getting increasingly difficult to track down.
Is there an (inexpensive) way of networking/programming that would mean we could dictate the letters in compressed format on the computer, which we could then email to the relevant secretary for them to listen to it via headphones and type the letter as they would with the tape?

Any help/advice would be great.

Solictors use this software. But for a hospital it won't be a case of doing it quickly or cheaply.

You could just use voice recorder but your expecting the doctor to write correct file names etc.

Just let it go to a few suppliers then to tender.

I know! God knows where all the tapes go too! Trying to track one down is like trying to find a needle in a haystack!
My clinics are busy enough without having to find a tape too!

Most tapres go with the clinic notes well previously. Now it is managed by winscribe digital dictation, links in with the PAS system i would of though. The clinicans can then grade letters urgent/routine etc

I worked in a hospital and we used Philips SpeechExec, each doctors dictations went into a secure area where the med secs opened them up and listened to, then typed the notes us. You need dictation and transcribe software.
