Requires annual commitment, but is billed monthly

Even the old versions of CS3 are a bit pricey! What is the difference between Lightroom and CS in pidgin English?

Lightroom is a photo management system (like a fancy iPhoto / Windows Live Photo Gallery / Picasa / whatever)
Photoshop CC is, well, Photoshop.

This is a great idea from Adobe, but can't help but think they'd attract so many more customers if they dropped the CS3 prerequisite.
