If I have multi room on my subscription and then take the box to a friends house would it work?

IIRC, the account is tied to your sky card, so only need to take your sky card to your friends if they already have a sky box?

No.
The premium channels such as sports and movies (possibly any package outside of the basic but I'm not sure on that) are tied to that card in that box.
Edit to say it will technically work, just not all the channels.

You have to take the box, the cards are coded to the box now so your card won't work in a mates box, take the box though and as long as there is a dish, all happy days

Someone on here had a problem with sky where they had either unplugged their multiroom box or gave it to their mate and sky told them it needs to be plugged in at the billing address 24/7 so they can trace it or something.

If you don't have it plugged into a phoneline they may or may not chase you up. If it's just to take one night or whatever though it wont' be a problem.

Plug it into your phone line or router every so often and you won't receive any letters.

They may or not bother. I find they normally don't but there are also a load of people who do get them.
Also normally only bother with multiroom boxes.
