have just taken the ecotec cover off and have rubbed it down a little bit but going out to get some fine wet/dry paper 2moro and the paint
1. question is, what have u guys used to clean it before painting, to get all oil and crap off the back expecially???
2. is it ok to drive without the plastic cover, the oil cap aint gonna rattle lose and pop off???
3. i know u use platic primer, then spray paint then lacquer, but which spray paint have u used, any special type???
4. have met smoke grey corsa, and gonna paint it red, will this look wank

1. engine degreaser and elbow grease
2.yesh driving without it is fine and oil cap will be fine and dandy
3.you need couple of coats or plastic primer, then couple with normal primer, then up 2 4 coats paint then lacquer
4.IMO red would look pants but its your car, id go with smoke grey aswell

1. i just washed it with soapy water then rubbed it down till it was all smooth and clean
2. its fine to drive without it on, i dont have one on mine anymore due to my inlet being different
3. normal body paint is fine to use but use plastic primer
4. when i painted mine i did it smoke grey and i have a red car, looked good!

cheers mate, thinki might just paint the whole thing the same colour to save the hassle of masking it off
much easier that way

just put first coat of platic primer on
once ive done a couple of coats of this, do i need to rub it down before i put the colour coat on?

only if it needs it, primer will show up any areas still rough etc pretty well...

good good, primer on about 5 coats so gonna leave it over night to dry then rub the bad boy down 2moro

ok colour is no on, about 5 coats,do i have to rub this down after 24 hours when its dry before i put the laquer on?
if so then whats the best way to do it so that i get a nice finish, dont want it all scratched
