is it not fixable, not even sure which bit it is, is it the master cylinder?

No replacing it is less messing about so labour is cheaper, its four bolts on the bulkhead, a further four to remove the pedal, a circlip and some pipework. You'll also need the scuttle panel and wiper mechanism out of the way.
