Thank yep theres two earth straps there on the loom bolting onto the alternator bracket and 1 the other end bolts to the inlet manifold, where that second one bolts up there is also a 3 pin plug coming out of the loom its that that i dont know where it goes.
Vacuum pipe on the c16xe just goes straight from manifold to servo nothing tees off on it. I'm thinking that other one could possibly be charcoal canister??

No map sensor if it has a afm (C16).
I think the icv is 4 pin. Does it look like it plugs into a sensor or could be be for an extension wire to join to? (eg crank, cam, knock, lambda sensor?)

could be either tbh. Not lambda crank, cam, dispac, it is coming out near the header tank.

Right its not icv, just been across and looked. The three wires are brown yellow and black!
I have a picture of the offending plug if anyone can host it for me!

Well i decided to just fit it and see what diagnostics said. Just had the cambelt to do first. To do the cambelt you have to unplug the cam sensor and having fiddled about under the inlet manifold i realised that it wasnt actuall plugged in, oops, as it disappeared through the manifold i assumed it hadnt been unplugged my mistake. I also noticed while doing the cambelt that the bracket for the crank sensor was broke so that was lucky and is now replaced.
So in essence it was the cam sensor!
The engines now all in except i'm waiting for throttle cable so havent put the wiring through into the car yet.
Ains
btw thanks everyone for there help
