i got a 1.4 8v and here is how i have been shifting

1st gear 0-19 mph

2nd gear 20-40 mph

3rd gear 40-61 mph

4th gear 62-89 mph

5th gear 90 +

in a 1.4 thats a bit harsh but if u woz racing sum1 I guess thats about rite..but racing's bad mmmmkay

^^ wot I thought even in my 1.6 corsa gettin up to 90 is almost at the max but no way wud I cain it in 4th to 90mph + 70 is the max in this country incase ya dnt know corsa-crazy

over 4000revs in 2nd my engine sounds really tappy n noisy so I change gear at around 4000revs which is around 40 mph

i don't use the clutch either, just slam the stick into positions, there's a bit a crunching noise, nothing too bad though.

I know it doesn't do the engine much good. I can tell by the why it screams its head off. Ive only done it once tho.

100 in fourth by the way

and about 80 in 3rd...3rd gear is the best gear

Sometimes you need to drop down into fourth on the motorways if you're trying to accelerate up a hill from say 60ish. In mine, it's not a problem getting up to about 90 then changing into 5th, but mine is a 1.4 16v so i dunno about yours, what revs are you getting before u change? I certainly wouldn't do it every time, I only rev that high when necessary, generally try to change gear below 4k revs.

yeah first is anyfing around 2-4k revs, then 2nd to 4k revs...then 3rd to about 4-5k revs and then into fourth upto about 70 then slap it into 5th to cruise on motorway...drop down to fourth to over-take...5th can take hills at 70 but mines a 1.6 so will ave more torque etc than ya 1.4

Aye. If I hit a not-too-steep hill at anythin up to 100, I can hold that speed, but as for gaining speed up hills, it's w@nk. Bring on the 2ltr

I'm gonna mod ma 1.6 next year then probably sell it on and get a 1.6 vti civic...but dunno yet

160bhp standard but ya have to rev it hard so the vtech comes in but that dont bother me

yeah i wasnt watching my revs the other day when accelerating hard, the limit is meant to be about 7580rpm but i pulled it round to a good 7800rpm
I got a F15 gearbox, i can do 0-60 and only use 2 gears, 60mph in second dude lol
