Might take the air filter off , and put the standard one back on ?
Could that help ?

I have the same problem.
60-70miles to 12litres of petrol (£10)
140miles to 25litres (£20)
But today i just filled up another 10£, and managed to get 102miles from the previous £10! I'm so happy, cos thats with fairly short journeys, and 2 trips to the airport with very heavy load. 3 big passengers with so much luggage!

No. Unless having the air filter makes you drive it harder.
Do you have a bootful of ICE?

What colour are your spark plugs? Have you had your car serviced recently?

Every vehicle's engine wears out as a result of friction during normal operation. This friction causes wear of the cylinder walls which leads to compression loss. Lost compression results in your engine having less power --- it runs poorly and has sluggish acceleration. It also can cause increased oil burning, exhaust smoking, and poor fuel economy

Check your lambda sensor. If it's faulty, it could making the engine run rich. If this is the case, you might be able to see a black sooty deposit on the exhaust tailpipe (powdery, not oily)

Andy, is this black sooty deposit on exhaust not the norm? Mines drinking a bit too much and has this sooty shit but I though the soot was norm. Im changing the Lamba soon anyhow but just though i'd check...

Is the lambda sensor easy to replace ? How much does one cost ?

the lambda sensor is the one in the exhaust manifold, make sure the car has been sat still for a while before changing cuz it gets rather hot
