okies jus bought a wee sri 16v when i was test drivin it i didnt notice it as tappy, but as of today it seems to be a bit tappy, it increases wit revs, anyone any ideas wat it cud be? only 79k on engine
gonna get new oil an filter see if it can help solve it

any oil in it
could be loads of things, but start with an oil change.
btw, if its done 79k check that the timing belt has been done since 40k (they need replacing every 40k) otherwise your tapping could turn into loud banging

yeh when i bought mine it had no oil in it lol, was well loud tapping in gears 1-3 but chucked loads in and its fine and dandy now

i had same problem, but it wasnt the tappets. found out to be fan belt. sprayed a small amount of WD40 onto the belt and was fine, not to much though as it may slip off.

yeah oil was my first check, its not an engnie tappin as far as i can make out and i then began ti think it cud be alternator, electrical guy reckons its perhaps the roller on the fan belt or a tensioner,
gonna get the tensioners and belt and water pump replaced anyhows cos theres no history wit it and do well for my own piece of mind, this was supposed to be a cheap runabout ffs lol

it wont be cheap if that belt had let go, especially if the pulleys or tensioners were fooked get it done ASAP.
