unplug your monitor, plug it back in, if no joy, restart the computer with the monitoir attached, it should boot up and load the monitor.
IF THIS DOESNT WORK! DO NOT FRET!
Simply restart and tap F4 or F8 to bring up the boot menu, select safe mode, then adjust your display resolution from there, and restart.

And again if none of this is possible,
restart, tap F8 and select Enable VGA mode

Tapping F8 from when you power up the computer, will bring up a BOOT menu, u can select safe mode of VGA mode from here, VGA mode will dump the graphics settings and u should be able to return it to normal..
To restart, press the reset button on the case, or hold the power button on the external case, or remove and re attach the Power cable at the rear

All you gotta do is boot into safe mode, seriously TAP F8, F5 and F4 from when u press power on, seelct safe mode,
navigate to the add remove programs, uninstall the display adaptor drivers, restart normally. it will then reinstall the drivers from disk and u can set the correct resolution, 1024 x 768 for a 15" monitor
its definatly one of those F keys, I think if you on a dell machine its F5

You've managed to change the refresh rate at some point m8
Restart the machine and hold down F8 as soon as you have done so, you have a list of around 8 choices come up Start windows normally, safe mode etc, used the arrow keys to move to safe mode and hit enter. Computer will alert you your in safe mode and click yes.
Right click on the desktop go to properties>setting tab & then monitor tab
where it say screen refresh rate set it to the lowest available probably be 60hz - back on the settings tab if you can drop the resolution right down - ok out of all of it and restart the computer, everything should be ok, and you'll probs just have to readjust ur screen resolution under the setting tab, probs to 800x600 for a 15" monior or 1024x768 for a 17"
i wouldn't bother uninstalling the graphic drivers as drax said as then you'll have to pratt about reinstalling them - plus u dont do it from how he said
and drax safe mode is f8 on all machines
if all above fails, just plug it into a larger monitor and adjust settings, or boot into vga mode as said above
