Rite need a new PC as my laptop screen has given up the ghost; gonna try and build it at easter.
Seen this spec PC on currys for a good price at £469 and link this spec would be enough, although would prob go for a better processor
AMD Sempron 3000+ Processor
512MB DDR RAM
80GB Hard Disk Drive
Dual Layer DVD-RW Drive
ATI Radeon X200 Express Graphics
9-In-1 Media Card Reader
7 USB Connections
3 PCI Slots
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
19" TFT Flat Panel Monitor
Should it be quite a straight fwrd job, also does that spec seem half decent and what sort of price should things be

depends what you're wanting it to do really.
I think the main reason for it being so cheap is that its a sempron (AMD equivelant of the Celeron) which isnt as powerful as an athlon

there ya go mate - couldnt find the graphics card so just add one of your choice and that should be fairly similar to the currys one but with a better processor

I'd tend to avoid the ATI Express X-x00 series aswell, as they tend to be woefully underpowered "onboard" cards......that is, assuming that you're going to be using the PC for gaming.

tbh you can get a far better system for the price!
also i'd never trust currys/dixons/pcworld in regards to buying a PC (there all the same damned company anyways)
best getting one custom built or something tbh if you want to know exactly whats in it!
alot of pc manufacturers get custom-build motherboards and such, which actually limit future upgrade possibilities

doh
My GF had a compag pc from PC world and when we opened it up for an upgrade it was an absolute nightmare - even the case was built in such a way that made it very difficult to upgrade - in the end we built up an entirely new system (starting with a nice windowed case)

Unless you know someone that can get you the parts at trade prices, I would just buy a read made system as I reckon it's gonna be cheaper that way.
Dell's prices seem quite
