Possibly but it shouldn't do.
Depends how the tv deals with it but you said normal tv channels looked good on it so you'll not have any problems with dvd's.

SD tv picture looks crappo, but im putting up with it for now, HD videos iv played look fucking awesome

576p. Certainly looks a lot better than standard def. Noticed a huge difference when using a decent component cable as well

It's only 576p if you have a progressive scan dvd player.
