Hey, wandering if anyone knows of this. Ive had my car nearly 2 years and it has always had problems getting into first gear and eventually second gear. I got up yesterday morning and it will not go in first or second gear for anything. I have had to drive to uni in liverpoool in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear today. Drivers behind me at traffic lights werent very happy. My car is a 51 Corsa 1.2 16v. I think im gona take it to Vauxhall tomorrow to see if they can fix it. I hope it doesnt cost too much though. Any advice or suggestions as to what the problem could be and maybe how much it would cost to get it fixed?

Gear linkage

£75 or so for the part, then probably 2 hours labour knowing how some garages work, so another £80 ish

Yep, that's almost definitely what it is.

Obviously it will be cheaper getting the work done somewhere which isn't Vauxhall, but I think Vauxhall are the only place who supply the part, so wherever you go, the part will come from a Vauxhall parts desk.

hey took my car to vauxhall cost me £113.02 but it drives like a dream and its under guarantee for a year now However, they gave me a list of other problems that now need doing. Gonna cost another £400! :@ so im thinkin about selling my corsa and getting a VW Golf.

Typical main dealer attitude, especially when the owner is female. Take whatever they tell you with a pinch of salt.
