need:
ignition only management
inlet manifold
throttle linkages
thats about it. gains arent huge and theres not much room for them. they arent reliable and refined for daily use, can drink fuel if not set up properly.
cheap fun though

not really as the carbs would sit below the line of the bulkhead as you would need to use a flat sidedraught style manifold.

No because dcoe's have to sit almost horizontally(about5/7deg is the max they can sit at, because of the fuel bowl)
40s will probably be plenty for a 1.6 16v, to keep better low range power/torque.
Dont get deceived by what look like cheap carbs tho, they may start out cheap, but after your've re-built them(highly likely), and got suitable chokes/jets(chokes are £60 for 4....)
A fuel pressure regulator will be needed drop the injection pump pressure too.
They soon get up to the cost of a set of jenveys. Which will be more efficient, reliable, and give better driveability.
They can be realiable tho, if setup well.
I have 40's on my 8v motor, and there alright tbh, they've not been RR setup, but i know the jets/chokes are about right, and they run quite well.
I get about 25mpg around town, 35ish on motorway.
And the noise is awesome
