Ive heard of people getting through with it. Basically they just check that the car is sound and arent interested in anything else. My mates cars always pass with uninsured wheels etc, although an engine is a different league. Should be ok, but i wudnt chance it - although i no how much insurance is on these things

''Shall I just change the engine back''
You make it sound a 5 minute job
Oh, and i hope it fails if you've insured it as a 1.4

agree with monster, if you cant afford to insure a 2ltr you shouldnt drive 1. you might as well not have insurance tax or mot because they are all void, your as bad as the people with none anyway

What about the emissions test?
will the limits be lower for the 1.4 than a 2.0?

I no what your saying, and its your decision if you dont want to insure it, but to be honest im 19 and getting a red top conversion and i am willing to get a loan and save up aswell for probably 6 months - my insurance is 3 grand. To be fair the insurance companies are the real badys

I cant help thinking that Monster has mis-read your name, as yours and the guy with the 2.0's name look similar at a glance

I completely agree mate. People need to learn that you cant just go through life not bothering with these things because they are too expensive. Either Wait until you have enough NCB and are old enough to insure one for a reasonable amount, pay the price, or Don't bother having a powerful engine
At the end of the day its breaking the law.
