ok atempted to do a veg oil conversion on a 1.5 td today and yesterday. Got all the plumbing done and then started to do the electrics for it all.

Managed to get most of that done with it all working fine switching from 1 tank to the other but my main problem was stoping the main fuel pump.

Tried disconecting the power, fuse and all sorts but it seems that all that goes into the fuel pump is a senda unit live and an earth. Any one have an idea of stoping it or isolating it?

dosent seem to be a main feed to the pump? or where i was looking. There were two earths, a blue and red wire and a blue and black wire. The blue and black wire was producing 6v and the red and blue wire had no voltage.

They're normally mechanical, which is where most of the noise is from.

on the diesel its mech pump, all u have at the tank is the sender...u need to stop the flow of diesel by fitting a tap or shutoff valve inline somewhere, but u may have issues with air in the system when changing from veggie bk to diesel,,,why not just use the one tank and mix the fuel and oil...

well basicly am running a 2 tank conversion to start up on diesel and then switch to the veg oil when its warmed up. I was thinking of fitting a valve to the fuel line but would this be a problem?

it shud be ok...give it a whirl and see how it goes,,the only prob u might have is an airlock in the system, which on diesels can cause non running probs...

well we had it all working, switching from 1 fuel to the other and all working fine and then the 6 way pollok valve i was using broke because diesel was trying to get to the engine but was stoped by the valve so it gave way and broke. So i was thinking if there is enough pressure to brake the valve, there will be problems if i fiited some sort of shut off valve in the fuel line.

they shudt ought to as ure basically just shutting the flow of fuel off,and allowing it to take the oil instead..

Remember that the 'mechanical' pump is electric, it's just a diaphragm pump instead of an impellor type.
