ok ive been reading around, my laptop battery is totally dead and doesnt hold a charge for any longer that 10 seconds, ive read around and ppl are saying stick it in the freezer in an airtight bag for over 24 hours or so, and it might recover the ability to hold a charge for abit, im not to bothered apart from the fact that if you turn the power lead off it dies straight away, and i cant move around the house or move the laptop to my room while it is on,
any try this or offer any sort of explanation to why this might work ?

well you do need a new one if it dont hold charge and you want it too.
but sometimes in the bios there is a battery reset then you charge it fully then let it run all the way down a few times and that is ment to help.

no thats just plane old shit, ive been reading and there is methoud on the madness, basically the stuff is a gell and it crystalises (sp) after a while, freezing it is spost to help turn it back into a gel thus being able to hold charge, its spost to work for phone batteries aswel.
but i dont know if i dare try it lol

get hair gel on your finger and rub it into the scratched surface of the cd. leave it a couple of mins then buff it off with a cd cleaning cloth. i read it on the net a few years ago and it has worked for me when i've tried it.

Or hibernate or standby it?
Might last long enough on standby.
