Is it a combi boiler? Mine does this when the presure is low.
I'm covered with British Gas. Had to use them a few times over the past year. It's only a couple of quid a month but great piece of mind. The do a cheap gas checks as well as free labour and parts.

Going to be the motorised valve or the pump probably.
I had my pump replaced because i had hot water but no heating until a couple of weeks ago.
The hot water gets to the cylinder by expansion after it's heated by the boiler, but if you have central heating the radiators rely on a pump to get the hot water feed.
Doesn't sound like the same problem as yours, but may help someone else out in the future.

need to know wether its a combi or tank and cylinder system
In either case the problem is most likely to be the diverter valve,
We get lots of these this time of year now its getting chilly

will be the 3 port valve then ( Assuming its a "Y" plan heating system )
Very easy to replace can be quite costly to buy a new one though

We had a similar problem a few weeks back, was something to do with a sticky valve.
