Been looking for a new HD TV. Searched a few sites and been to a few shop, but could do with a bit of advice. Know a bit about the technology, but don't know much. I'm willing to spend up to about £1600, preferebly with a dvd player and stend etc. Whats the best out there? Any ideas? Best places to buy? Any bargin deal at the moment? Thanks in advance for any help.

Why not sony, for that price you will get a brilliant sony.

Costco have a 40" 1080p lcd for about 1150 quid, can't remember what model but its a v or w, up the high end anyway.

Pioneer don't even make lcd's do they and at 40" you'd be wasting money buying a plasma.

People definitely do not understand the whole 720/1080 i/p thing.

Because 720p 32" tv's accept 1080i signals does not mean they display at 1080, there are not enough pixels on the screen.

The one robbo is talking about however is not 1080p, and the D series are the chepear sony's.

The D3000 is deffo 1080P matey, certainly advertised as such anyhoo

http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProduct.action?product=KDL-32D3000&site=odw_en_GB&pageType=Overview&imageType=Main&category=TVP+32-40+Sony+BRAVIA+TV

Its also advertised as being better spec than the S3000.... cant find a V series 32" tho :S

It is definitely not 1080p, I checked before I posted, it is also not advrtised as such, although I do admit the way the word it makes it look like it is.

If any 32" was 1080p it would be a v, x ,or w anyway, not a D.

I don't think there are any 32" 1080p tv's available yet.

Edit to say 32", i had missed that out so it said there was no 1080p tv's at all.

What they say is technically correct, it accepts a 1080p signal.

Nobody knows the difference though as we've seen.

You need to go at least 37" to get 1080p.

what? lol

plasmas are the way to go if you want 37"+. LCDs look so poor, even the sony rep that came to our store agreed! she said sony are only concentrating on the HD market now, which is fair enough as on HD they look great. but for normal TV i would never get an LCD over 32"
