ive never played any of these, and keep hearing only good things about the new one so i fancied getting it, but if i dont play the first 3 am i gunna get whats going on??
i can download 1 and 2 for the PC but 3 i think ill have to get on ps2.
opinions>?

personally i would play 1, 2 and 3 first
if 4 is anything like it'll have references to them all through.
you could also probably pick up 1 and 2 for about ten quid these days, id check out a gamestation and then just play them on the ps2
only thing is with 1 you wont be able to save so set a side a day to play through it

MGS4 has so many characters from the first 3 you won't have a clue what the story is about. MGS you need a PSOne to play it properly and a Dual Shock.

tbh it would probably take you longer as youve never played it.. iirc the first time i played it solidly (excuse the pun) and did it over the weekend
also remember these games are full of cinematics too to tell the story
i know what im doing and can do each in about 3 hours

by far one of the best games going around, 4th one is in a world of its own. yeh i would say play the rest be for .u play MGS4 ull have a better understanding

I agree, you have to play at least the second one before MGS4. (MGS3 is the prequal to MGS1). You'll love it. I really do think number 4 is the best game I've ever played. If you have the time to play it, you will too .

I remember playing the first, ages ago, didn't play 2 or 3, and have gone into 4, can still kinda grasp whats going on, but would of been better to have played the previous games first.
Enjoying 4 now though, given up on most of the sneaking and just gone for shooting everyone

well after alot of messing around with the PC version, i have decided that it isnt going to work, mainly because im running vista x64 and that it was made for 98..
so my next plan... get the ps2 from the cupboard and source MGS 1 2 and 3 from somewhere.
