I've just bought an Iphone 3g, its not jailbroken, and given that apple are trying to screw your jailbroken phone up, Its not something I want to try.
For current Iphone owners, what are your must have apps?

has anyone jailbroken their phone yet?
aparently theres no risk of bricking it and if its to go back to the store you can re-install the stock firmware, seems like it has to be worth doing?
I made another post here with the jailbreaking in question for the 3g iphone:

theres no way of them knowing If you want to go the extra you'd add a few contacts and apps to make it look like it was used as normal......

very true my 3g is fully loaded with J/B stuff tons better than the app store and the abilty to custom anythink on the spring board is a big + winterboard rocks
jailbreaking is safe as house as you can put phone into DFU mode and restore back via itunes to factory settings so as good as new

There may be some kind of chip that counts flash attempts. Something that is unaffected/altered by a re-flash but something that could be accessed by techs later on. I can't remember what I seen this on. It might have even been a car ECU.

no im pretty sure once its flashed back to normal they wont have a clue, think about the volume of phones they get to repair do you really think they are going to test every one to see how many times its been flashes ect.
not to mention just becasue its been flashed doesnt meen its been jail broken previously, it just might have been playing up and some one has re flashed it.
seriously theres no way they would find out or refuse to fix it.

I was under the impression that changing FIRMWARE could not effect HARDWARE warranty under UK law
Pretty sure this is true as it does not effect the hardware

OK, anyone who wants to fiddle with their £400 piece of electronics then send it off if it breaks and expect it to come back fixed, be my guest, Ill have a good chuckle when it gets refused

dunno about that, i see loads of insurance claims rejected because people have fiddled with the phone and done stuff to it without realising
And besides, we arent just talking about changing firmware on the iPhone, youre talking about loading 3P stuff onto it as which shouldnt be on there...

you're basing it all on what people have done on other phones, not THE iPhone. Therefore, you haven't a clue whether or not a firmware change can be traced on THE iPhone.
And, "we arent just talking about changing firmware on the iPhone, youre talking about loading 3P stuff onto it as which shouldnt be on there..." have you been reading the thread at all?!
Yes, if you jailbreak a phone and send it in then yes it will get rejected, but this ISN'T want is being discussed. What's being discussed is, flashing the phone back to it original firmware and then sending it in, in which case NO they WON'T be able to detect it!
