Random one and prob pretty obvious answer but....
I've just downloaded a program to check cpu temps and voltages etc.. Everything seems fine but its reading 10.3 volts on the 12 volt line - would this be having a negative effect on anything or is it ok to have it like that?

Well it's not brilliant, but if you're having problems then it could quite easily be caused by the low voltage.
A rough guide for acceptable voltages is 10% so you're looking at 1.2 volts so that is too low, really.
