Everyone now and then our Sky+ box beeps. Just a single beep, sounds like the beep you used to get on those old digital watches when pressing buttons.
Any ideas what the problem is? Its getting rather annoying now and its seems to be totally random as to when it does it

its working again but now the fan or the hard drive is going ape shit and spinning like crazy

I took my fan out because it annoyed me so much.
Hard drive makes the whole thing vibrate and I need to give it a smack every so often.
If it's under warranty get them out for a look, if not open it up and take the fan out/stick a new fan in.

As long as the engineer was coming to the address it was registered at I doubt it would matter.
You'd have to kid on you were your dad when you phoned up though.
