whats best way to cure this without replacing them,

there currently out of head so prime time to do it.

squeeze oil out them in a vice

I'd not be putting them in a vice. When I did my head at the start of this year I just left them to soak in degreaser for a few days. It used to tap a bit before, now it's quiet as a mouse.

i bought a head treatment from the forte rep at work and also an engine flush, ones they were put through it became almost silent

what engine are we talking about here, if its an 8v then wrap the tappet in a wrag and put it in a vice, leaving them to soak wont clean them out ffs you dishes dont clean them selfs when you leave them to soak !!!

if its a 16 v tap the tappit on a piece of wood until the insert falls out, then push something with a point in it to realease the ball bearingt to realease all the old oil from inside the insert, then push it back together. job done

I've got an XE and leaving them to soak in degreaser for about a month and a half while I dealt with shit worked. Degreasing oil isn't the same as leaving dishes to clean themselves 'ffs'.

it a redtop 16v.

thanks for all the tips, i dont really have a month and a half so cant do that 1, will try head treatment and taking them apart.
