Don't go named driver on mum/dads policy, you will only regret it in the long run. I was on parents insurance for two years, and once got my own car, I was still raped over insurance (£800 TPFT for 1.1 Pug 205). It will always be more expensive if you have 0 NCB, so just bite the bullet. That way, when you are a bit older and ready for a bigger engine, you will have a few years no claims behind you.

is very true, however once u r 21 like i am now it has helped a bit. (i have 0NCB!) my bro at 17 got quoted £1000 on a clioo 1.4 rt from liverpool victoria. not oo bad i thought for a 80bhp caar and just passed test!
